Murray McLauchlan at Affinity

Along with the arrival of summer comes a number of Music Festivals to the Cowichan Valley.  This year we were delighted to have Murray McLauchlan  – a headliner for The Island Folk Fest 2014  at Providence Farm – come stay with us for the weekend.  In addition to his performances at the Folk Festival, we were honoured to have him perform a private concert at Affinity on the Sunday evening with all proceeds going to Providence Farm.  Murray, one of Canada’s most influential songwriters, entertained the evening’s guests with some of his most popular songs including the Farmer Song and Down by the Henry Moore.  In addition to his musical skills, Murray’s storytelling skills captivated the audience as he wove 5-10 minute narratives leading up and into each song.  The unplugged guitar, grand piano, harmonica and direct crowd interaction in the Affinity lower lounge area enhanced the atmosphere for this intimate gathering.  We thank you Murray for such a wonderful evening.  In addition, we also thank Katie and John Ehrlich of the Alderlea Café for providing us with the delicious canapés served throughout the evening.

Affinity Guesthouse would like to congratulate Dayna and Thomas who held their wedding and reception at The Affinity Guesthouse several weeks ago.  To quote the mother of the bride “The use of the property for the wedding was perfect in every way.  Although the weather could have been sunnier, we made the most and continued with our plans, including the campers…… you were extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with.  I will definitely recommend Affinity Guest House for anyone planning a wedding.”  We wish you two the very best as you begin this new chapter of your lives together.  Remember….The Joy is In The Journey!  Enjoy!
